OK, well, I pulled the saddle and there's nothing under it. However, when this guitar made the journey from Chazmo-to-Rich-to-Richard-back-to-Chazmo, it was set up, and perhaps the luthier removed the shims. I know for a fact that the saddle is lower now than when I sold it to Rich originally, but I'll eternally have egg on my face if the shims were the reason as I left that guitar alone so someone else would "make it theirs." Now it's mine (again) and will remain mine, and plays beautifully since the action was lowered from the factory...

Saddle and bridge shown below. Took some quality time to bore oil the bridge and the fingerboard. :)

Thanks, Brad. It is a sweet instrument!

They made some beautiful yet very period-y instruments in that shop. It's such a shame that we lost New Hartford right at, arguably, their peak... :(

Show off all you want. It's a gorgeous guitar and we love pix! :)
I know you do, GG! :D :D That's all for now. I just played it for 10 minutes after tuning it back up and realized how much I like the sound of those JP PB strings on this guitar. A keeper for sure. It sounds like nothing else I have.

Hey, @BradHK , so now I'm wondering if the body on your "Orchestra" prototype is the same as the "OOO" 12 string... It's so confusing... But other than the obviously different placement of the bridge for the 12-fretter 12-strings, the bodies look very similar to me. What's really funny is that just about every label that they made for the 12-stringers (which are all the same body) have different nomenclature... @SFIV1967 do you still have that picture of the various labels????

Brad, can you run a tape measure across the upper and lower bout?

Canada .... brrr
I always thought that OM and 000 had the same body just different neck and bridge placement? As for saddle, I had the one on my jumbo lowered twice by my luthier, and he never mentioned any shims. It's quite low now unfortunately - I assume it's the price I pay for using medium strings.

Here are the measurements of mine:

lower bout: 15 6/8” (edit - 15 11/16”)
waist - 10”
upper bout - 12”
length - 19 9/16”
depth lower bout - 4 1/4”
depth upper bout - 3 3/4”

Bingo! Orchestra = OOO, for Guild Orpheum at least.

The measurements of mine match the specs for the Orpheum orchestra model on the Guild website except for two areas: 1) the lower bout is 15 11/16” rather than the published 15 3/4” and 2) the lower bout depth is 4 1/4” rather than 4”. Not sure if this is my measurement skills, incorrect specs on the Guild website, or variations in production. I could see a 1/16” variation in the width (or my lack of measurement skills) but 1/4” depth in the lower bout was pretty easy to measure and not what I would consider a normal variance within manufacturing.

I would be interested in seeing the measurements of other member’s Orpheum orchestra models.

Here is the page on the Guild website I was using for reference:

I didn't look for exact match with your body measurements against my OOO, but they're extremely close, Brad. I call them equal.

I'm sure the soundboard bracing in my 12 is different than your 6-string, but I suspect we shared body bending moulds, etc. for our builds.

OK., so the website calls my body type "Orchestra" as well.

Yes, adi top and bracing
'zackly! :) I think all the Orpheum models had this, and hide glue construction of the box as well.

I could be wrong about this, but I think the bridge pins are plastic, not bone... But, I'm not sure. Specs say bone, but having just pulled them and looked at them, I'm uncertain.

I know the pins on both of mine are bone, and correct on the hide glue throughout.

Are the pins slotted/grooved, Sandy? Mine are. That's why I thought they might be plastic. Hard to tell...
