Thank You chazmo, Guildedagain (what a clever handle), mavuser, adorshki. Twocorgis, that guitar looks like it actually wants to say something while just sitting in it's stand! Drips with personality.

Last week I helped a group of fifth graders in Vacation Bible School. Now I find myself to be the fifth grader, if that, even, being helped along by you guys. Much appreciated, what a great forum with great people!

There's a reason that one has been for sale for a year. It's not a D40-12 (which would be called a G212), it's a D4-12, and is priced at least three times what it should be.

Here I go again admitting my lack of familiarity. "Hog" = mahogany ? Thank You.

Chazmo, thank you for the link, I have to admit I went a couple of days thinking that "hog" was maybe a reference to a larger bodied (XL) version of a model, thinking like a big, bad 'hog' motorcycle.

Acornhouse, thank you for the excellent recording. And yes, probably my first hearing of that model and year. I appreciate your making and sending that. Thank You.

Once again, glad to have joined LTG and admitted my ignorance on these many aspects. I appreciate the education.

One thing you will learn about LTG is that we are seriously bad (or good?) enablers. If you even give a HINT about wanting to buy a Guild guitar we’ll fall all over ourselves trying to help you spend your money. Ask me how I know…🤪

Chazmo, thanks for the abbreviation/acronmy link. It is informative and sometimes hilarious at the same time ! Sadly, I have actually printed it off for quick reference so I don't go down the wrong alleyway again.

Does this practice sentence sound right? BTW, I might someday WTB a V HMMOGG! MIA from Hobo made with Hog and MOP after talking with you SME's and asking WWLTGD. ??? (Just enjoying all of this, please don't put me on probation!)

Appreciating every glimpse behind the curtain !

HeyMikey, I look at this in the same way as when I am in a new town, I ask the people who I consider friends with sense the best place to do everything from get a haircut, a set of tires, to dental work. I covet the knowledge and experience of those who already know what I simply don't. So, to paraphrase Woody in Toy Story... "Recommend like the wind, Bullseye!"

Hello Sandy,

No, you're mistaken. It is indeed a D-40-12, which was made during 1971, before the introduction of the G-212. It is a rare one so, when you starrt discussing the price, you need to take the rarity into account. And I believe this guitar was at one point owned by an LTG member.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
