My neighbor has two Corvettes. Look like fairly new ones. New GMC pickup also. I'd wonder if he selling weed, but he's the Chief of Police.

Seems to me like that'd be a pretty trustworthy source.

In fact it occurs to me those folks may be being deprived of their Constitutional right to receive their justly deserved Darwin Awards?

although many are spared as you say, like i said at times it does seem like a daily occurence, that you at least hear about it. I have witnessed more than one myself while standing on the street; and as a driver have had a few close calls and let me tell you, it has never been scarier to be behind the wheel in New York than RIGHT NOW.

This just in:
SpaceX conducted 4th successful mission launch about 2 hours ago:

I must reiterate how important it is to recognize that Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon may be the only potentially commercially viable vehicle capable of providing escape from Earth in the aftermath of a global thermonuclear zombie apocalypse meltdown and clambake.
And please let's not start any fratboy humor about the proper spelling of SpaceX or how many thousands of pounds of thrust, or "yaw and roll"....
Let's just not go there, ok?
But for those of you who like to skip right to "the good parts", launch is at about 17 seconds.
In the words of ol' Bucky Turgidson himself, "Blast Off"!!

WELL, if you'd been at Canaveral observing this historic event you could probably also be gathering up the fringe benefits by the dozen on the beach, right now.
Pre-baked.

...and with just a hint of savory premium rocket fuel to liven up your taste buds.

ok, while I might have had my tongue planted firmly in it's usual satiric spot in my cheek regarding Tesla's intentions, I do NOT mess around when it come to the FIA:
http://www.fia.com/championship/fia-formula-e-championship/2013/fia-formula-e-championship
However, I think Elon'd be a fool NOT to attempt to enter that series.
I say "attempt" because the FIA does have an entry acceptance procedure, after all.

Speaking of which, these guys probably WILL have something to say about it, when and if.....

Sucker was takin' forever to load.
Figured that site must have fallen to the zombies, gave up waiting.
Fended off a fresh attack on the highway this morning, but ammo's runnin' low, and they got the chargin' station staked out too.
I think they're gettin' ready to make a charge now, even the clams've gone quiet.
Saving last bullet for myself.
If ya find this, don't bother lookin' fer my pieces, and Tell Laura I Love Her.

And you thought this thread was dead hmmm?

Well time has come to part with ole' Betsy that took my @$$ over US roads for the past 15 years, I decided the faithful and reliable Mitsubishi 3000 GT needed a replacement, and after much thinking, reading, test driving and online chatting, I am pretty much decided on.......
Why didn't you shop a Volt?
Yeah that.

I could not believe the responsiveness and smoothness of the ride, and the idea of not needing more than a couple of gallons of gas a year (given my daily commutes) is more than appealing. As is the tax credit, access to HOV lane even alone in the car etc.... maybe this weekend! :eek:nthego:

Does it have an ignition switch?
Ya might wanna give that a real close look.
And ask 'em about a warranty and how long do you have to return it if you don't like it?
And by the way did I leave my arm at your place?

Living in Berserkly has given me a rather new perspective on automobiles. I guess living in an urban area will do that to you. The number of hybrids and pure electrics on the road there is just unbelievable. No scarcity of Volts or others of that ilk around the Bay area.

I dunno... I still want a manual transmission when I'm driving, and if I were you, Pascal, I'd look at a Honda CRZ... But, hey, you know I'm a Honda fan.

Anyway, good luck.

An ignition switch? Wow... you're old. You know headlights come without any petrol reservoir now?
Even the vette has a push button, and it's 9 years old!

Warranty is pretty good 'specially the battery which is pretty much "the car": 8 years / 80000
GM actually factored in the cost of one battery replacement on the vehicle price tag. I'm good with that...if I still have the car in 10 years and it needs a new battery, I have a feeling they will be cheap then.... they already have come down in price by close to 40% in 4 years. The car itself has come down quite a bit and will keep doing so, no doubt.

You lost me on the arm....?

Thanks Chaz, I grew up on manuals, can't stand the sight of one now since I tasted auto.... even in a vette! :)
And if you ever get a chance: get behind the wheel of a volt and floor it. You'll be VERY surprised! Instant power delivery, and amazing pull (even though performance was not the main goal for that car) complete silence and not giving a dime to big oil is the icing on the cake.

But fear not: The vette stays at home. :) man, I'm becoming a GM poster boy!

If you look carefully, you can just see the TKL case of the F-512 on the passenger seat, buried beneath the frame of my desk chair and pillow. ;) :
