Hmmmmm.... curved ball.
Al: Do you think I'm sexy? Or it's the Vette you're after?...
Your magnificent Rod Stewart impersonation notwithstsanding, I'm struggling with choking back my rage over not getting proper credit as the guy who called BS on the Pep Boys misrepresentation of Florida law.
NOW we got zombie auto-service chain clerks.
@ everybody:
Generic broadline service chains may be ok for generic cars, but if ya got any love fer yer ride, go with the dealer or a brand specialist.
I go one place for my tires 'cause that's their specialty.
I go another place for tune-ups and mechanical because they're better, more knowledgable, and even slightly cheaper than the dealer, and they specialize in Ford.
And I get a warranty on what any of 'em install with their labor.

Now that I know for fact that it's not the vette you're after, I could never forgive myself being the reason for your demise "a la Hendrix", so let me confirm for the whole LTG membership anxiously waiting for the latest update on this thread now flirting with new records, that you did in fact call BS on the Pep Boys' hobby of passing new laws, in order to foster additional revenue on the back of their gullible clientele.

I concur. And can assure you the Vette will never set tire in such place as these service chains.
The other vehicle only go there for very basic maintenance such as changing tires.

You make it sound like I knew they were gonna foster additional revenue if I did that.
I had NO such intentions!!

I am suitably impressed.
I gotta ask though, did it ever see more than 60 mph?
And do you practice the "get off the gas w-a-a-a-y before you expect to have to use the brakes" philosophy?

Anybody who knows me also knows that ! don't drive like that Al.

You mean Default was right about New Yorkers defining braking as t-boning the competition?

Well, my Sprinter is a bit of a hot rod relative to others Al. The 82mph governor on the stock motor has always bothered me to no end, so I got me one of these, courtesy of RennTech. Another 100+ lb/ft of torque never hurt anybody...

You know, not all New York drivers are the same. There is New York, Brooklyn, Jersey, Long Island...anyway it is the PEDESTRIANS that are the bigger problem. Seriously, the "smart phone" makes people do stupid things. Especially with a few drinks in them after happy hour crossing 68th street at Park Ave, starring down at their phone with headphones in thier ears, blindly walking into an accelerating taxi or any other vehicle coming in HOT across an NYC intersection...happens almost daily. You can't blame a driver for that, and they have been re-enforcing J walking laws now because of it. Don't be surprised when someone tells you they have been given a ticket for J Walking in New York in 2014 and beyond. Anyway if u want to see some driving entertainment take a ride out to Long Island on a Saturday and just cruise up and down route 110 all afternoon. If you don't die from a heart attack you'll probably want to stab yourself when you get home!

I couldn't agree more with the SmartPhone/stupid connection. It's widespread stupidity, too, even out here in the hinterlands. :applause:

I have a feeling we wouldn't believe the number of lives lost for a "Hey what's up?" or "where you at?"" or again "what you doing?" text that absolutely HAD to be sent with no delay..... :bi_polo:

Yeah!, well, you hot shots with your fancy schmancy tires! Will they hold air or even hold the road for that matter, at 50 below F? My Bridgestone Duellers do, all three sets.
I believe running some of those performance tires below freezing voids the WARRANTY. Right?
....got this sudden urge to go rotate tires...I'll check back later......

Most of them aren't even texting...they are reading their Facebook and twitter feeds which is probably even more useless information than any text you could possibly send anyone, to be frank.

Maybe they should just eliminate the legal requirement to brake for jaywalkers? That one was always particularly irksome for me.
In fact it occurs to me those folks may be being deprived of their Constitutional right to receive their justly deserved Darwin Awards?
