I have a Zoom H4N, I borrowed from work. I've never recorded anything, as I never thought I played well enough to share, but I will see what I can do. What sort of playing would you want to hear ? Strumming, picking, fingerpicking, solo stuff ? I'm not saying I can rip off something cool in each style, but...

Zoom h4n is awesome recorded this on it few weeks back https://soundcloud.com/agradeleous234/morning-breeze

I would say record what you feel you like best and represents the guitar well for you . :)

Edit ; like to say I felt the same never thought I could play well enough either but I wanted to try to record and Kristal audio guys same as Ttm now showed me I could do more . I still need tons of work but feel I'm still not that good but I learned to like what I write and stay at it . I write for me first and foremost if others like it that's a perk . Never think your not good enough.

I'll noodle around and come up with something. There's not time like the present, to try something new, and possibly embarrassing ! I don't have any songs I've put together, like you have, but I'll see if I can come up with stuff from, low to high on the neck. Last time I sent someone a clip of something, they sang over it , then sent it back. It was then that I realized I needed to work with a metronome !

Adorshki are you on iPhone/iPad to or android ?
AHHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!.
Even my girlfriend can't talk me into that.
I have to deal with enough tech/internet BS here at work, and just can't see any rationale for owning one.
At least that I could justify the cost overhead for.

You guys go ahead without me, I'll be ok.
The important thing is to warn the others.
Just leave me a couple of full clips and an extra canteen. I'll hold 'em off as long as I can and save the last bullet for myself.

And tell Laura I love her.

I know, I wonder how I pull it off myself sometimes.
I'm in sales and about half of my business is conducted via email, so I'm pretty much in front of a computer all day on weekdays anyway.
So I don't really want anything in my home that would remind me of work.
'at's why I'm never around on weekends.

Rayk, I talked with a friend of mine last night who is a sound engineer, and he is a big fan of the Zoom H4N.

I might have to acquire one so the whole world can hear me butcher my fine musical instruments. Oh, the humanity!

Yes it's pretty darn good and handy is the word . There's a bunch of different models by Sony, Teac and others. But Zoom is good stuff I'd like one that could combine vid with the audio multi tracking of H4N . If you want to do some in the pc we can get you going for cheap . I feel bad for throwing my music at you folks but it'll end soon I promise . Here's a relaxing new age piece of music that the Thunder storm track was done with the Zoom H4N .

Did this at the house . The track has very little editing if at all sometimes you get a car drive by and the likes ;)

Alright. I have three samples, complete with mistakes, recorded, with my F47R. Now, I just need to convert them to MP3, unless you are OK just downloading as a WAV file. I was going to host them on SongRamp, so you could click and play, but, they don't like any uploads of non-original stuff, and one is a little bit of Hotel Cal. ( Sorry ). I thought you wanted to hear stuff higher up the fret board, to see if the tone stayed good way up there. 7th fret capo and go for it !

For now, here are some links to the WAV files. This was the first time I have used the Zoom and recorded myself. Just say the mic about a foot away on a tripod and pressed record. I suspect there are things I should have messed with first, but, this wasn't a pay for play job, so you get free quality recordings ! On my PC, QuickTime will open these links when you click on them. Your mileage may vary.

Just some noodling with a Drop D tuning, because I like the way this guitar sounds in drop D and it shows how nice it can sustain. Sorry about the unrelated bit at the very end. I wasn't sure I turned it off of record, and hadn't. Gotta' find a good audio file editor, I guess.
Drop D Strumming

This one uses the same chord shape up and down the fret board from 1 to 12. A bit of finger picking and missed frets.
Chord_Abuse

This is a bit of Hotel California, ( Capo on 7th fret. ) Again, to show it sounds good quite a ways higher. Ignore the oops parts. No retuning after slapping the capo on, which is handy.

Thanks, Rayk and JohnW for those fine musical offerings this morning, listening while drinking coffee on my back porch. Perfect for the mellow mood I am in.

JohnW captures the sound of the F-47R perfectly. Bright, articulate, assertive, balanced. The Swiss army knife of Guilds. One more thing. It can have the daylights flatpicked out of it and not reach any headroom limit.

It is no shrinking violet, that's for sure.

Well done JohnW63 as soon as it started to play I recognized the Zoom right off the bat LOL it does have a sensitive case :(
The Zoom if you read or checked has reverb and compression and some other Guitar effects.

The guitar sounds great and playing is great to but I warn you if start doing some of the things I'll list below you won't be able to stop !

If you feel up to it and still have the zoom play me a drop tune, make something up if you can give 2 minutes or so I'd like to DL it and mix my Blueridge with it and see how the blend . if you will do it you can send it in a Mp3 format via email or what ever .

There is file converter called Switch file converter I'm not sure but believe there is a free version not sure if this it but its what I use works great used for yrs http://www.nch.com.au/switch/

Onward ! ........... why am I doing this ?????? LOL

Audacity is the best free editor you can buy LOL and you can record tracks with and offers a decent effects rack . But most folks use it for detailed editing .

If your interested in recording from the pc unless you have mac then you have garage band but if you have Pc I recommend Kristal http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ I know i posted before but I forget a lot LOL

Kristal is as easy as it's gets and it was the for runner for Studio one by Presonis or should I say kristal 2 was the for runner it became studio one . Kristal is an Older Daw and audio only it was perfect for my start since all i did was guitars some of my older tunes on SC were done in Kristal , It's vst support is great more info explaining Vst here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_Technology. There tons of free vst's that are as good if not better then some studio pro gear. you can get anything under the sun here's a good place to check out http://www.vstplanet.com but theres waaaaaay more out there.

I know I'm carrying on again but I love this stuff can't I help myself hahaha anyway since all thats free the only thing you need would be an interface which you can get pretty cheap used oh and a guitar cord and a mic yeah and a cord for that to ... of your choosing ... I like to buy more then one hehehehehe ......

Ok Ok ! I'll shut up now

Your welcome Neal glad you liked it :)

Kayk,

I ended up ordering my own Zoom. I didn't feel I should use a tool from work at home, that much. I also have a Line 6 POD UX1 which also comes with mixing software, which I found complicated, when I bought it, and since it runs through the computer, via USB, it can have a slight delay from hitting the strings to sound out an amp. I'll see if it has a easy editor.

If you feel up to it and still have the zoom play me a drop tune, make something up if you can give 2 minutes or so I'd like to DL it

What style and tempo ? Strumming or picking ? Fast or slow ?

Cool down load kristal it's FREE ! you be up and running in no time just need a mic or you can use the 1/8 headphone/line out jack on the Zoom to 1/4 trs on the Line 6 , Did you get just the Zoom or does come with wind screen protector ? I need the one that looks like tribble LOL for use out side . Mine just had the case and mic stand holder. I could use the a/c adopter thing is a battery hog and don't forget to up the storage card :) . .. congrats JohnW

The delay your hearing is latency in part your computer and interface . I'll read up but I figure your line 6 should have its own audio card if so there should in settings a buffer/sample rate adjustment . Lower the setting and play something till it either bottoms out or starts popping or crackling if so stop there and increase a tad until it stops then see how it is .

There's a program called Aiso4all it's free and it will fix the latency issues many folks I know use it. luckily I don't need it . last thing not to worry about much but when you record multi tracks sometimes because of the latency anything after your first track will be slightly off but an easy fix is just slide the track backward a tad till it lines up .

Let the Fun commence !

yo yo yo yo yo yooooooooooooooo wait there one minute did it come with Reason limited ?

I'll assume you want sort of a rhythm guitar, backing track sort of thing that you can play over, rather than some finger picking 2 minute clip. I came up with something, earlier, and if I can remember how it goes tomorrow, I'll post it. Still need to read up on the Zoom settings and how far to put it in front of my guitar.

Placement is trial and error being two close together fixed mics makes it limited a bit but you add two condensers to it and space them Google up recording acoustic guitar or if you see pics of studio rooms they show options you just have to experiment . For the track anything you give me will be fine picking or strumming whatever moves ya. 😊
