I know that's a tough question and for some is easy as the answer would be "none" since we all love our Guilds.

I like my F-47M very much but am not married to it and suffering badly from GAS (at a level I might add which is disproportionate to my playing ability), I find myself being wooed by other guitars, not all of them more expensive, but sharing some of the general traits that I like about my F-47.

Some others that I currently find myself investigating too much are;
- Larriveé LV-10E
- Larriveé LV-10E Ltd Koa
- Santa Cruz F Model
- Seagull Maritime SWS MJ (could add a nice amp with the savings)
- Martin Performing Artist GPCPA1
- Martin JC-16RE AURA
- Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Custom

Another Guild...... Steffan
Your vote doesn't count. You're obviously under the control of your addiction right now. You should seek professional help. I hear that show "Intervention" 's looking for new subjects. Also Dr. Phil but he's got a pretty good BS detector, you may not wanna go there.

As a matter of darn fact I probably could teach your dietician a thing or two. Or at least my girlfirend could. You should taste what she can do with just a couple of lychi nuts and a rice stick.
Oops veered pretty good there didn't I... SO I'll make the observation that I haven't met the guitar that would cause me to trade in ANY of my Guilds and really don't expect to, each one was acquired for its own special merits.

Well, although my D55 has the sound to die for...I am thinking about how it would figure in a trade towards an F512...my Gibson J-30 doesn't sound as good, but plays so much easier. Then, somehow, my GAD-30PCE, which I do love to bits must become an F47M in sunburst...

 I can dream, can't I???

Bill, take your Guild, and your Gibson to a good luthier, and tell him you want the Guild to play that easy, after that I think there would be no contest....I have had my F512 since 1980, the action was getting too high, uh oh....and my luthier took the bridge down, did his magic, and the thing plays as easy now as ....well, you can barely feel the strings.......all the way up......Joe (Killdeer) played it, and when I commented on the good action his reply.......what action?....Wished it had played that easy for the last 30 years.... Steffan

Been there and done that with other brands; five Martins and three Taylors. The infatuation wore off and I'm back to Guilds only in the corral. All prejudice aside, to me they just play better and provide the sound I expect fom a premium acoustic. At this point, I'm not even tempted anymore...

I gotta agree with Scratch: I've owned a few Gibson acoustics (good 'uns), played a bunch of other makes, and I vote for Guild without question. I wouldn't swap any out (maybe add a few?!) Sold the Gibby's btw. I do like Strats though, but I guess that's a different story...

I could let go of one for a Colling's of any sort. Those are about as good as a new acoustic gets.

Interesting Doc....the guy who sold me my new D50 lives not far from the Collings factory and he said he 'wasn't too impressed' mind you at the time he had both NH Guilds...D50 and D55....makes me even more anxious to receive the D50...should be a stunner....hope so I had to put my Epiphone in the pawn shop to help pay for it......oh well....it'll be back home in a couple of months...  Steffan

I tend to prefer the Guild tone and if there is a guitar I am interested in, I would look to Guild first. Love the F30, and not too fond of the 000-18....Keep my D25 over any D18s I have played. Played an old Westerly F50 maple the other day that just about blew the door down it was so loud and full.

There may be a guitar out there that I would consider trading, but based on a price difference, the guitar would really have to be worth it. Played plenty of Martins and Gibsons but the price is typically too great and tone just isn't right. Collings are ok but not convincing. Never played Santa Cruz (but heard lots of great stuff). Don't even bother picking up Taylors any more.

I would consider a trade in if I were interested in a body shape that Guild does not provide. I do like the old Gibby L body shape and plenty of makers have their version. Also, a parlor would be something I would consider. Maybe something with a short scale even I do not care for the 000-18.

But if I am itchin' for an OM, Dread, Jumbo, 12er, the first place I would look was Guild.

I love Collings, too, top-shelf stuff. But all things are relative. Played a Collings D-2 and a Tacoma D-50 in the same room, and they both were a cut above the others I played, Gibsons, Martins, Taylors. The D-50 was about 1500 clams, the Collings was over $3000.

Problem with trade-ins is my Guilds are worth more to me than they are to a dealer.

I played a used D-45 at Elderly that was stunning both tonally and visually, and it played like butter. They were asking $2,500 for it, that's as close as I came to thinking about sacrificing one of my beloved Guilds...

I'd trade most everything I have, except the F20, for West's DV72.

Seems like the question is a bit moot, considering that most here have more than one Guild. Do we have to choose only one to trade? Two?
How about, which guitar would cause you to trade in ALL your Guilds? All or nothing!

I'll bet most will answer.....NONE!
