Also NOT a quintessential acoustic comment, but my Starfire IV beat the pants off half a dozen ES335's I auditioned before I bought it.
HI Turtle, WELCOME ABOARD!theflyingturtle said:I am guessing a jumbo of some sorts. Perhaps the answer will provide some direction for me. I suppose that my real question is, what would be a good guitar to accompany a singer (me) and I play/strum with bare fingers 90% of the time. Thanks.
Come to think of it, and given the number of Guild lovers having been infatuated by means of a D25, I have to say Mojo might be onto something here (and regardless of the finish).... :wink:MojoTooth said:The D25M!
He's got a Corona 'hog top. I didn't limit my top choices when I nominated the D25....bluesypicky said:Come to think of it, and given the number of Guild lovers having been infatuated by means of a D25, I have to say Mojo might be onto something here (and regardless of the finish).... :wink:MojoTooth said:The D25M!
Sorry for having overlooked your post Al. I promise it won't happen again.....adorshki said:He's got a Corona 'hog top. I didn't limit my top choices when I nominated the D25....
Hang around here too, turtle. In time, you'll hear pretty much everything from our membership.theflyingturtle said:Wow! I never really thought of Guilds as dreadnaught guitars! I remember the F 50 on the cover of some John Denver album when I was little so I always thought of Guilds as jumbo guitars. It looks like I sorely underestimated the breadth and depth of Guild guitars! It looks like I have got my work cut out for me.
By the way, thank you for all the replies and the kind welcomes. I believe, from reading all of the comments, that to have the "quintessential" Guild I will need to purchase around two dozen guitars  and that should just about do it? Well it sounds like I'll have to spend some time at a shop that sells Guilds.
That about sums it up, welcome fast learner! (I believe I missed the welcome boat....)theflyingturtle said:I believe, from reading all of the comments, that to have the "quintessential" Guild I will need to purchase around two dozen guitars.
The "BR" did it for me.... still a D25. :wink:Dubbaround said:The D25M has hooked more people on Guild than any other guitar they made / make.Hooked me.
In all humility all the junbo love caught me by surprise and I can't argue with it. So I really was just throwing out that technicality of "by the numbers...it's the D25". But thanks for the hollaback!bluesypicky said:Sorry for having overlooked your post Al. I promise it won't happen again.....adorshki said:He's got a Corona 'hog top. Update addendum: All credit for nominating the D-25 is shifted back to Al, the ski adorer!
And you just happen to have a couple of those on hand.......hmmmmm.johnny3j said:My take:
Quintessential Dread - D25M
Quinessential Jumbo - F50
Quintessential 12 - F512NT
