What the heck size is a F-30 anyway?

It’s currently sitting until I can get it in to deal with a brake warning light.

The light is probably somewhat meaningless unless it's a low reservoir warning light, unlikely in that era, but usually more associated with the E Brake - no pun intended - jiggle the E brake lever in the in/down position to see it it has any effect on the light, more than likely a defective switch, easy enough to trouble shoot/replace.

I will acknowledge the nomination but we need to ask - is it REALLY a veer or did someone forget they were not in the Dream Cars thread?
Now we need to find a way to come back from Jaguars to guitars...well, nothing with a Guild F-30 but at least a guitar:

Very interesting (and veering from a veer). When FMIC wanted to be a lifestyle brand and advertised automotive sound systems and had Slash in some ads, many people acted as if a car, amplifier and a guitar in the same advertisement was some kind of innovation. Looks like people just did not remember what Fender had done before.

It is the light for the E brake! Hmm. I like fixing things by jiggling!

Yes, even looked it up. Weak spring in the return circuit.

BSA/Triumph/Norton etc typically had a brake light switch mounted to the swingarm, with an external spring, like most old cars/trucks, and dust/dirt gets into the switch or the spring gets mangled by a twig. Oddly enough here's a brand new one I have in a box, from where dunno. Maybe I'll get a bike to put it on must have been what I was thinking.

You can see the rubber boot that prevents ingestion of contaminants, when new.

The part in your car could be remarkably similar.

FWIW, while we continue the veer, I put nearly endless miles on BSA/Triumph/Norton/Matchless and a Triumph GT6 and have no particular complaint about Lucas electrics. Bulletproof in fact. Lots of old timers - I included - with BSA singles - 441 Victor - and ET (Energy Transfer) completely batteryless ignition could attest that it probably as fine an ignition as anyone has ever made.

The Matchless 600 single had a Lucas Mag, about as reliable as a rock.

The GT6 had no electrical problems, I would have driven it anywhere, and did.

Most of the issues I’ve had are simply age related. Clutch, rear seal, transmission, brakes, water pump, fan motor. Electronics have been fine.

Big prices, owners seem pretty proud, and rightly so.

Top of the heap current sold prices.

And the bottom. Someone got a killer deal!

Are those necessarily the sold priced or just the last asking price?

Yes, age, ouch...

Watching everything you own return to basic elements, of course with the help of fungi.

Absolutely love the engine in these, a masterpiece.

Seals will dry up, "lot rot" a friend called it a long time ago.

When I was fiddling with big antique CATERPILLARs in the PNW woods long ago, reading the manual, "Start machine once a week, move it back and forth to limber it up".

Wiser words never spoken/written, and if followed would eliminate most age related failure, just like the human body, use it or lose it.

To veer back to guitars, as much as I don’t love the snakehead headstock, the GF-25 and GF-30 are pretty intriguing. None on Reverb though. Must be pretty rare.

Sold prices all, but possibly not reflecting offers. I'd have to look at some of mine to see.

In the future, they'll tax you on the higher amount.
The higher amount of your asking price or the sale price? Whoa!

@Guildedagain is not always the best source of tax advice.

Income, which may be taxed, is based upon the sale price no matter what was asked. I think the comment was intended as cynical humor.

So yesterday I'm playing the F30 doing a tiny desk concert over the phone with kid/grandkid, they like to hear me play while they slurp their soup, and weirdly enough, kid (37) asks "What guitar is that you're playing?" and while I didn't admit to anything, she agreed that it was sonorous in a pleasant way.

We have a landline, and I've noticed that speaker reproduction doesn't work nearly as well for the listener as actual soundwaves from a guitar, acoustic guitar sounds much better over the telephone, comes through better.
