All this talk of 12 strings and no mention of model D25-12, G3-12 (dreadnaughts) or JF30-12 (jumbo). The D25-12 and JF30-12 are both very affordable and great guitars and the G3-12 is no slouch either.
If you are looking for a 12 string, Guild is the place!
T

The Original Poster wanted a Guild Rosewood Jumbo 12 String in the Original Post which is why there is no talk of the Dread Models. They were out of the question from the get go.

I have seen the New Hartford F512's in Great used shape sell for anywhere from $1800-$2500 lately.

I'd be happy to find a New Hartford F512 burst in that range!

If you are lucky enough to find a dealer that still has one new you can expect to pay more than that.

Yeah, I've seen one or two up around $3500, which is about $1000 out of my range.

Hey Cougar, With American production close to back up and running, There is always the option of the Brand New ones. There will always be online Dealers that have Great prices. For example musicstorelive.com and Rocky at Street Sounds NYC have always had better prices than everyone i have checked with. Not to mention the customer service is off the chart and the return policies are ironclad. In the spring of 2014 you could buy through Music Store Live before the Announced Sale of Guild to Cordoba, A Brand New F512 with the DTAR Pickup in Sunburst or Natural finish for around $2500 shipped with full factory warranty and a 14 day all expenses paid return policy if you weren't happy with it. Once production starts back up I imagine it will take around 6 months to get things back to where they were Hopefully. Just an option to think about while you search for The One!

I got mine for a lot less than that used from Guitar Center, and it arrived with the DTar Lock and Load, and in basically unplayed condition. You might have to be very patient to find one, though.

Only if the new ones are perceived to be at least equal in quality to the used guitars, imo.

I think prices might come down on Existing Stock from New Hartford that hasn't been sold yet but I really haven't see a big fluctuation in Used prices in the market in regards to whether American production is up and running or not. Guilds have a pretty even keel used market value with the exception of a few of the special edition models like the DV72's and JF100's and such. It all depends on the new prices Cordoba lists the new Guilds at as well.

Yes, I've been checking GC used gear. And yeah, I figure finding a reasonably priced one could take a while....

Right.
And I'm sure the current high pricing on New Old Stock is a reflection of the uncertainty about when and even if Cordoba will actually survive long enough to make new 12-ers, (and F50's and D55's for that matter) so the price is for the customer who is out there somewhere who can justify the price of that NEW bird in the hand and doesn't want to wait for CMG's timetable.
I'm sure prices will probably get adjusted somewhat if CMG gets guitars to market before the NOS finally sells, or at least within a couple of months, after the reviews are in.

I expect those will be quite expensive, BUT their appearance will burst the bubble on the price of the new old stock Hartfords, and as I lie in wait, I'll snap one up at a great price...

I will bend like a reed.

Cougar, I recently stumbled across a 39yo F-512 that I couldn't pass up, with spruce/rosewood. Yes, it will spoil severely! After playing it, I sold my other 12 strings. (I only play 12s in standard tuning) I do agree with T-M-G's comments about the large neck. I have large hands, so it actually fits very well, but I could certainly see that being an issue for many. When it comes to construction, its a beast! I think I could club a rhinocerous to death with it, if the need ever arose! I'm still amazed that such a solid, heavy build can produce such sweet sound! Good luck!

Pretty much. A New Hartford F-512, which I expect will have an ebony fingerboard and dtar electronics. I prefer a sunburst, but lately, looking at more Guilds with bursts, I'm not a big fan of the 'perimeter' burst, which Guild seems to employ quite a bit. It's the 'teardrop' shape I'm looking for. A few have it, but it depends....
