I'm the opposite but like the tea bursts the best. Fine choice you made Cougar . I may in fact sell my F212xlce to upgrade to the 512 but I'm in no hurry . Good luck and hope you get one soon ;)

...With American production close to back up and running, There is always the option of the Brand New ones....

I just noticed that Musician'sFriend notifies re the (natural) F-512: "Temporarily out of stock Reserve now - Ships 01-08-2016." This model seems to be $1K more than it was in 2010. (?)

That sounds about right Cougar. The price hasn't changed much from the New Hartford days. Certain dealers will have them for less as they deal in Volume trying to sale more units for a cheaper price. Musician's friend has never been one of those dealers. They normally don't come down to MAP pricing like others do. As far as the shipping date, I wouldn't get too excited about it. We have seen ship dates on other sites like elderly go from 3-31-15 to unknown for new Guild production in the last year. Hopefully that will be the date but I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. Here is the link you mentioned so everyone can see what you are talking about.

I should've figured these "announcements" are probably more like marketing surveys than production updates....

You know it, man.

I do want electronics, and the D-TAR multi-source system seems like it would be considerably better than prior systems... or are Westerly's electronics already pretty good?

Ack ! I can't say myself I'm one picky sob when it comes to tronics 'elect but others will have some info . I'm not over impressed with the D- tar by itself but again that's just me ( by no means does that mean it's bad ) . I've not heard a combo unit though I'd like that option myself . Possible The d- tar is capable of an add on but I'd have to revisit that on my side ;)

DTAR multi-source totally kicks patootie, Cougar. Go for it.

Well, that's the problem - they're slim pickin's, especially with a burst (coupled with a reasonable price). I kind of had my eye on a 90s 512-type with electronics of its day, which is available, and wondering if it's really worth waiting for an F-512 with the newer electronics to come up for sale somewhere... I don't exactly have a contract with Sony to produce an album or anything, you know...

Hey Cougar, If you find a F512 you like without electronics you can pick up a 18 volt Dtar Multi-source Wavelength pickup with the built in Condenser mic and controls for around $175 from Bluestar Music in California. It is the exact same pickup system that the New Hartford F512's came with and is relatively easy to install. I think they have them on their Amazon page as well as their Reverb page. That is just an option to think about. By the way, I completely Agree with Chazmo on The Dtar system. Eventually I will have it installed on all of my Acoustics as it is the best Pickup I have heard or played. But that is just my opinion. By the way I sent you a PM with a link to a F512 to check out. Have a good one!

My F512 "only" has the DTAR Lock and Load, and I think it sounds great plugged in (or about as good as any acoustic pup sounds). I tried Markus' D55 with the multi source while it was here and I was waiting for him to pick it up, and honestly didn't notice that much of a difference, although I wasn't exactly comparing apples to apples. I'd say that if you come across a New Hartford F512 with the older DTAR, go for it.

Hmm. Along with TwoCorgis' comments, that just about settles that. I don't know where I'd be without being able to pick the brains of you Guild-knowledgeable folks. I'd probably have a crappy guitar.

OK, I'm back patiently seeking a nice New Hartford model.... I'd sure like a burst, but I may have to drop that spec due to their rarity. :indecisiveness:

Hi,
I'm pretty new for this Guild forum!

Actually i'm looking for a Guild JF30 6 Strings w/ VTB controls from the year of 92-97.

i have no idea where can i find some of them, ( i checked them on Ebay, Reverb,GBase ) found only one or two by sellers by i stuck before buying it.

Feel like the JF30 with electric is a bit over priced with price of $3000.

Honestly what is its todays "market" value?

i would say as $780-960.

Thanks,

Will do but I had to stop looking at guitars after my purchase of the CV-1 . Careful times ahead need not be tempted . :)

Um, yes, even sounds high to me and I'm usually on the high side of estimates and perception around here myself.
Sounds like even more than list price for new one, but we've seen funny things in the market lately, probably due to uncertainty about the future, stemming from Fender selling the brand about a year and a half ago.
Honestly what is its todays "market" value?
I would say as $780-960.
For the vintage you're looking for I'd say it sounds just about right, like you even had access to a Vintage Guitar Bluebook.
Low range for no case and mediocre condition, high range for mint with case.
A couplel of our members like Neal and Txbumper may have better-informed opinions and actually do a lot more buy/selling and watching of listings than I do.
Keep watching the FS/FT and eBay/craigslist forums here, you'll probably see at least 3 or 4 decent potentials over the next 4-6 weeks.

Hey...I am nowhere near as crazy about Guilds as Tex is!

I have my Bluebook of Guitars at work, and will let you know book value in the morning, Snakepit.

Off the top of my head, Al's estimate might be just a tad low, but not by much. $3000 for a JF-30 is way high, unless Elvis played it.
