Nevertheless they are quite outstanding ! Didn't know this band - glad I've been listening to them, thanks. Quite impressive !
Cream, ZZTop, and Jimmy Hendrix (most of his stuff played live), were actual trios...
I don’t think he’s using a looper. This was the early 80’s and the only true loopers were still magnetic tape and really tough to accurately sync. There were digital delays w/ infinite repeat but the max time was only a few seconds. Real looper pedals didn’t come out until the 90’s. Regardless, it doesn’t matter if he did, he still played all the guitar parts and 3 humans equals a trio, no matter what gear they use. 1 person w/ 10 loopers is still a one man band.I ain't an actual trio in that the guitar player uses a loop station in the beginning before getting into the heavy stuff...

Didn't complain, just mentioned that the actual feat of playing all the parts live is more impressive, and requires a great musical skill and fierce compositional talent too : nowadays we are back to the (bad) old days of music 'played' by poseurs or business created 'artists' who don't have much skill and play like genuine pros, except that machines are doing the job instead (it's even worse than ever, and I have noticed that youngsters are not much aware of it, being fooled by promotional people that turn mere beginners into magicians [!] )... And we/(I?) get bored and angry. (We do get a lot of these in France)
I agree that a little bit of a loop station here and then, or an occasional sequencer do not harm anybody, and that Midnight Toker is likely right that no loop station was used by Triumph in the mentioned video (though some other effect or device was)...
It is always interesting to know how things are done, and positive to tell to those that wouldn't know otherwise. I wish I would find more albums I could buy too
If Jeff Beck would miss a note, or played a wrong one on stage, we'd know it : does the risk contribute to the thrill we get with good players ? Probably I'd say...
Back to Power trios... What about those three ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KEMjeFW2qk&t=48s

You stole my thunder. Absolutely. Hendrix was light years ahead of his time. When I used to listen to Stevie Ray a bunch, Hendrix always came to mind.Jimmy Hendrix Experience is one of the great power trios in my book.

Not sure what makes a trio a power trio, but this is definitely a powerful trio.
It might make your skin crawl, but it's what we do. Man, you'd go nuts if you lived in Texas.AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH ️️️️️️️️️
Being child of two language teachers - and despite of that STILL interested in languages - one of my pe peewees has for years been the disgusting habit of folks using distance parameters to describe time.
I thought it was a superdumb finnish habit - morons are all over the planet . . .
If Jimi REALLY was lightyears ahead of others - where was he - in Andromeda ? ? ?
And to not leave w anger
I like Police though I think Andy Summer is a much, much, much better rhythm player than lead.

It's Jimi, not Jimmy. And it's doubt. Not dought.Jimmy Hendrix Experience is one of the great power trios in my book.
As far as lousy language goes - that is possibbly the only thing where people on Earth are equal.
Frolicking w words and expressions is one thing - using "popular" idiotic expressions is another.
Luckily - or perhaps not - soon nobody uses "lightyear" anymore - but "Oh Lodi 've Mercy" what's on line next . . .
Or North Carolina, Florida, and . . . . . . . . .Man, you'd go nuts if you lived in Texas.
O.K. Nuuska -- tell us how you really feel .AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH ️️️️️️️️️

I've never seen ZZ Top live so I trust you : actually I had often wondered how they'd be doing songs like La Grange on stage as there are several guitars on the original CD recording for instance, and figured out they'd be using some overdrive on bass parts to give more thickness to the backing parts when Billy Gibbons would be soloing...Right, but you said:
And I'm countering that because ZZ-Top used backing tracks live. I saw them 10 or so years ago and especially for the '80s songs there were instruments in the mix that were not present on stage.
