My cousin was the lead guitaist for a band out of Philly in the late 80's called "The Electric Love Muffin". They put out three albums and did a coast to coast tour!

They're problem was they were kind of a grunge band about five years before grunge became popular! :?

I missed the 'other' thread Joe, been away a couple of days.....but I do remember from when I was a very young man......Group Therapy.......and my buds and I called ourselves....Black and Blue... Steffan

There was (or is) a group called 'Black 'n Blue';
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_'n_Blue

If I recall correctly, I saw 'em open up for Whitesnake (I think) at the Portland Memorial Coliseum, about 1984 or thereabouts.

'Izat your outfit, Steffan??

Nope...we were 3 white guys who played down home blues...Chard Chenier on harp, Fred Rodin vocals, and me on guitar..Don't know whatever happened to Fred, he was a real blues filled voice, Chard is still one of the best harp players there is, and now does a lot of art (www.chardart.com) very cosmic stuff...and me, well, I guess you all have your own impression. ...Steffan

Back in the 70's I joined up with "Timmy and the Goat Ropers" for awhile. :D

Not to be confused with a band that Jerry used to perform with ............ "The Goat Gropers."

No - actually it was Dick Darby back around 1980 - and 'Dick Darby', an old folk song, was our opening number.

That's me on the left. I think photo was before I got promoted to full band status and earned the T shirt - also before I bought the Epiphone

Often used to finish up with it too - with an extra verse 'wot I wrote'..

"Oh me father was hung for sheep sh*gging,
Me brother was hung for it too,
And although I look a bit sheepish,
I know I'll never find another ewe :!: "

The group of guys that I used to play with informally on Friday nights went by the name of Boaz and the Harmoniums.

It came from the Vonnegut novel Sirens of Titan.

A couple of good ones I've heard:
Steamloaf.

And the name that I use for my one-man, fake band multitrack adventures: Aspirin Hammer.

Tunes and the Gopher Gulch Trio (my Cdn prairie roots)

Road Kill Lunchenette (don't know where that came from)

Smiley Hatchet and the Hacksaw Band (gruesome bunch)

Hayride to Hell (more prairie roots)

..... it just gets worse, so I'll stop now.

Revived as "Maybe Grope" for occasional reunions at a venue in Ben Lomond CA, near Santa Cruz, in the late '80's and '90's, but I might be off by a decade.

Ah, so we're talking cool band names. I recall a few of the names we tossed around in my first band back in high school. Seemed hilarious at the time, but I don't think I'll share here. :p

OK, let's see who recognizes this one:
Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers.
They featured a blind guitar player who was a big influence on Doc Watson.
*Extra points if you can name the guitar player.

Anyone? 8)
Joe
