addie,
Among the DC1E, DCE1, D15, D16, and D17, which would be least likely to be arched and all hog?
hf
The DC's.
The D15 was another all-hog archback. Forgot about those.
Not sure about '16 or '17.

If you want to scare them away, hand out fruits, nuts, and vegetables. But enough about California
HEY! Some of my best friends are vegetables!
And I suppose you have something against fruits and nuts?

Hey,
I'm new here...really lots of great info and knowledgable folks on here. From my limited experience I much prefer the "lower end Guilds". I love my D25...we're becoming "connected".
Like the D4 too...necks a little wide, but it sounds great. My SO has a D15 that absolutley rips!! It sounds like no guitar I've ever heard. She also has a D40 that plays like a dream, a low, easy action that rivals my '57 LP Jr. Thats pretty good for an acoustic! The tone is a little bright for my taste, but it's a great guitar.

Fretted,

I love the colors on that 1973. Can you tell from that site if it's still available and what the price is?

Cowboy,

Welcome to our band of outlaws. Well, we aren't really outlaws. But some of us should be outlawed.

Anyway, have a lot of useful info on Guilds. I look forward ro reading more.

I think the Guild low-end hogs are the best buy on the planet.

D. Hat,
It stands for brown, the finish, and yes, it also happens to be the color of poo. (but to the trained eye only)

Interesting discussion. I have to say that between the D25, DC1E, D-4V (or whatever the nomenclature is) and my D15, I'll take the D15 anyday. All hog and arched back, it sounds like no guitar I've ever played. The two D-25s I've played were both Coronas and flat backed and I've discovered that I don't like flat backed dreads. They sounded like cardboard boxes. I did look at a D25 12 string, spruce top, arched back. Sounded brilliant, but unfortunately the neck was too warped. The guitar was unplayable above the 7th fret. I would like to find a Hog/Spruce/Arched back D25, or a D40 and see what they're all about, but guitar shops in West Central Florida just don't have a good selection of used instruments.

my three cents

Hi Mick,
The whole hog archback seems to me like an interesting proposition.
I know what whole hog sounds like (I stood behind Darryl's motel room door) and I know what the D25 archback sounds like, and I must say that I'd love to own one that puts the two components together.....

Mick,

How often does an all hog archback D15 come up on ebay and gbase? Are any of them gloss finish?

BP,

That must have lasted all of thirty seconds.

I think the D15 with the gloss finish is a D16G... I sold one last year, beautiful instrument, almost perfect..but very narrow small neck...Steffan
