Re. Maybe I should start a 'Drawer of the Month' thread? That could last 3 years for this part of the workbench!
OK, I threatened to do this in somebody else's 'For Sale' thread, so here's a try-out! Let's see if there are more people than 'just me', who get excited about these kind of things:
Here's a look into my N.O.S. rosewood bridges drawer.
I got most of these bridges after the Westerly plant closed in 2001. For the most part they are Brazilian rosewood bridges that Guild kept for repairs and restoration of older guitars.
Brazilian rosewood comes (came) in many tints & colors with varying grain patterns and I wanted to show a kind that you don't see a whole lot.
At the top there's a more usual, dark looking sample, but the one below is a really light colored one that I've seen mostly on black guitars. A dark bridge on a dark finished guitar often looks somewhat boring, whereas one of these lighter tinted bridges offers some contrast.
I do have a separate drawer for ebony bridges, but they don't get me excited as much as these!
Sincerely,
Hans Moust
