The voice of reason?

Well, you lads have obviously never been to the Highlands of Scotland...the women more than measure up to the splendor of the landscape...but then, I married a "hybrid lass" of Welsh/Scots stock - hearty, a Guild player, a great singer, and a great sense of humor.

G.O. Welcome! Please know that I'm probably the only sane member of this family.....Ha!

As far as 12's - I play F112s in the studio and on the road. I've owned several Dread 12s, but they just had too much sound - too much of a good thing - for my application (open tuning). The small jumbo Westerly F112s (I also have a Hoboken F112 and it's more 'wide open' sounding.) are my favorites. I travel with my road guitars in the SKB 18RW - a great case with recessed in-line skate wheels, a recessed handle for "pull along" - roto-molded with bumpers and SKB will give you $1500 if anything happens to your guitar in this case - above and beyond what anyone else involved will give you. It's solid and, though designed with a dreadnaught in mind, fits the small jumbos well. (I even use one for the M20 with a few extra high-impact foam bumper guards added.)

I haven't found many airlines of any ilk that will do much to alleviate their bad reputation for handling instruments, but this at least has given me a fighting chance and after a couple of years with this case - I've had no problems. I can't recommend the SKB highly enough and at a decent price around $200. That beats the next thing - which is the Calton at around $800 for the case, but with a stirling reputation.

Again, welcome and happy Guilding the lily. dbs

By the way, on the women issue....you've obviously not been to Texas! 8)

well I've been to Scandanavia and Texas, and I saw some gorgeous women in both places!

On one hand, I might have to give Scandanavia the nod, there was a young blonde hotel clerk in Stockholm who was so beautiful it seemed she used her deep blue eyes to gaze right into my soul

On the other hand, there are the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders 8)

G.O., my aircraft case is a long rectangular fiber case filled with high density foam cut out to a dreadnaught shape, so the guitar is completely surrounded by at least 4" of foam. I also take some comfort in the fact that it doesn't look like a guitar so it may be less likely to be stolen by some clown at the airport.

The fallacy about Scan babes is that they are all blonde hair - blue eyed. This is not the case at all. My girlfriend is dark haired brown eyed. I loved Stockholm. I dworked on the Viking cruise ship 'Mariella' which sails from that city to Helsinki, Finland. The latter is more Russian like. Probably because Russia is but a stones throw from there.

Great idea for the guitar. I think I am going to have to do something like that myself as I am tired of worrying if some dope is chucking my guitar around like a frisbie.

A lot of French went up to Sweden in the 18th century, and that's where a lot of the brunettes come from. I suspect tht a lot of the Finnish "gene pool" comes partly from Russia (becasue they look a little like it), but also from the Czech/Hungary area, because the Finnish language is from there and some folks in the Czech/Hungary area look like the Finns.

On the ohter hand, please pardon the gross generalizations. I knew a Swede who was adopted from Japan, and to me he was a Japanese with a Swedish accent. There are a few black Scandinavians, and some o' them babes is screamin' gorgeous cuz they's caramel Swedes! And a lot of other exceptions. Just like America--we ain't all fat.

As for the whisky, we use it here in Arizona to make the women look better. Arizona women are grouchy because there are too few grasslands where they can graze.

We need Hans to comment on those Dutch units. Those chicks are so hip they make me feel like an uncultured clod--in other words, a yankee. Dutch wimmins are the best of France, Germany, and Denmark all rolled into one. Also the best of England, but that ain't saying much.

Abalone,

Nothing beats a Swedish girl even if she's bald.

I've spent a lot of time on Sodermalm. I had a friend who lived on Kungsgatan near Slussen, where there is now a guitar store. All around soder, you could see Cornelius Vreeswijk carrying his guitar

Now I have a friend who lives on Krumakargatan, and I had to help her move in, carrying furniture up several flights. They used to make Levin guitars there, but I don't think Levin Guitars exist anymore

I lived in Uppsala for two years and Vasteras for one, and back then you could get a Hagstrom for nothing. Which is more than what they are worth.
