But honey, it's a GUILD for heavens sake.

That is a beauty D-100. I have a Guild catalog with this guitar in it, without pulling it out of my catalog stash, doesn't George Strait play this model too?

Congratulations!!

He did, but his was a Custom Shop deal, I believe.
Check out the edge of the Guild sticked on the inside of this one... its rectangular.
And his is heavily customized, of course.

I still wouldn't mind finding a DV-73 though...
Man o man, I saw a DV 73 once and my knees buckled. So stunning!

Had the pleasure of a DV-73 for a couple of days helping out a fellow LTG-er with a purchase / shipping logistics. I always thought they were too much bling but reconsidered when viewing up close and in hand. Stunning, and amazing sound. Never heard notes ring quite like that.

Luckily I made sure the shipped insured it for $5000. UPS is going to hurt on this one...

...but not as much as I'm hurting. :(

How was it packed? Was the guitar case loose in the box, even a little? Was the headstock packed solid?

Guitar case was packed well into the box it arrived in.
The headstock had a bit of padding around it, but I definitely would have preferred to see more to keep it solid.

Jeez, what a shame!

I hope you are able to successfully negotiate your claim with UPS. I've heard horror stories.

My wife just rushed in to the room where I work - "John, what's wrong?" she said, horrified, thinking I was dying - I was groaning about those pictures.

What a truly horrible thing to do to a rare and beautiful guitar. My heart weeps for you.

They are just so rare, and to find one in great condition and have this happen. Not like shipping a new one and having it broken.

I'd do everything I could to stick UPS for the entire $5000 and I mean it. I'd take all kinds of documentation varifying that it truly is a rare, irreplacable guitar....whatever I had to do. I can't believe I'm saying this.........hire a lawyer, call in the SEALS, the Girl Scouts....whoever....or is it whomever.

UPS scheduled a damage inspection for Monday.

I put in the notes "Under no circumstances will I allow UPS to touch, ship, or remove my guitar from my residence. I will require that an inspection takes place on-site and I will never allow UPS to touch this guitar again."

I also wanted to add that I sent some pics and an emailed inquiry to Pat DiBurro. I think I can entrust this repair to him and him only... once UPS pulls through with this claim, that is.

Lets hope for the best!... a fast and satisfactory claim with UPS. I really don't feel like waiting months to get this resolved. I want to play the D100 NOW! :)
